Best Repair Yard Award It is with a great pleasure to inform you that at the close of the international event SHIPTEK2011 organized by Maritime Biz TV International in Dubai Last April 2010. AME was selected by the international committee of the awards as the Winner of the Best Repair Yard 2011, this is for the second consecutive year that Albwardy Marine Engineering was honoured with this prize in this region. The management of AME would like to share with you all the great pleasure and immense pride on this great occasion and we assure you to continue the improvement of AME services in all directions in order to ensure the continued satisfaction of our customers, this achievement is coming after other honours which AME obtained them from international organisations since 2008 and that includes: 2008 - Winner- Most Employee Friendly Shipyard- MASTECH 2009 - Runner Up- Best Ship Repair / Shipyard- Seatrade Middle East and Asia 2010 - Winner- Best Repair Yard- SHIPTEK 2010 - Runner Up- Best New Build Yard- SHIPTEK 2011 - Winner- Best Repair Yard- SHIPTEK Afloat Repairs AME successfully completed the installation of a Nitrogen Generator on board the Al Amarat, a 51,000 tonne DWT Chemical / Product Tanker owned by Oman Shipping Company . This work was carried out both alongside a repair berth and also at the Fujairah Anchorage. Due to the success of this project where we completed the work on time and within budget the owners have confirmed a further installation on board the sister vessel Al Matrah. AME isin the process of completing a full hydraulic system renewal on board the J.F.J. de Nul, a 3,200 tonne DWT Cutter Suction Dredger owned by Jan de Nul whilst this vessel was stationed in Duqm, Oman. This project was carried out by a team of up to 20 men working continuously over 4 months time. Conversion Albwardy Marine Engineering (AME) is currently extremely busy with a number of different projects underway that showcase the company’s diverse range of activities throughout the Emirates and Oman AME was recently awarded the project to convert two 76 m long flat top barges into jetty pontoons for NMDC (National Marine Dredging Company), Abu Dhabi. This project involves constructing loading ramps (both fixed and moveable) with the lifting arrangements, deck stores, spud-type mooring arrangements, generator rooms, and control rooms. This amounts to approximately 300 tonnes of additional steelwork to be fitted to each barge. Both barges are to be delivered during the summer period. AME were awarded and have subsequently completed the project to convert an Offshore Utility Vessel called the Island Trader into a Oceanographic Survey Vessel for EGS of Hong Kong. This entailed us fitting a bow thruster to the vessel, installing additional accommodation, additional generators, air conditioning systems, A Frame & survey equipment. All this work was completed at our yard facility at Al Jadaf. In Dubai Maritime City AME fitted a bow thruster to the Al Jamoah, a 3200 bhp tug vessel owned by NMDC. This project was awarded to Albwardy Marine Engineering along with a similar installation on a sister vessel called the Abu Al Sayayeef. New Construction 4 new DAMEN tug boats and two Damen dredgersCSD500 are currently under construction by AME in its Jadaf yard for different clients in the region. The flow of new building orders through Damen enables AME to deliver one vessel per month. Dry-Docking Albwardy is actually fully busy with Drydocking works in DMC as well in Jadaf and Fujairah due the increase of the number of drydocking orders as we are currently carrying dry-docking works onboard more than 10 vessels at the same time. AME is continuing its successful yacht repairs business by being awarded the dry-docking of a 50 m mega yacht. During this repair project AME is contracted to carry out complete overhaul of the main engines and generators, shafting repairs, hotel service repairs on board, and the underwater hull painting. Special Services AME has been selected by FMLD-Kral to represent them in the UAE, Kral-Fmld is an Austria based companies manufacturer of pumps and measuring equipment like Boiler FO Pumps & Pumps for other installation in addition of flow meters. AME is also the sales and service agent for other international marine brands like DMA Sorption (Oily Water Separator), KEMEL (Kobelco-Eagle Marine Engineering of Japan for oil and water lubricated stern tube seals), Mitsubishi (Mkk- Purifiers), Mitsubishi (MHI-Engines), NEI (Ballast Water Treatment system),Van Voorden (propellers), Vesconite (Bushes and Bearing), Yanmar ( Marine Engines), Kawasaki (Thrusters and Propulsion system). Antipiracy Measures Albwardy Marine Engineering, together with leading ships’s owners has developed a number of potential deterrents to harden vessels and make "other vessels" look a softer target. Albwardy Marine Engineering has successfully hardened over 63 vessels from VLCC´s to LNG Carriers and to date no vessels hardened by our systems have been taken by pirates, we offer the following solutions: • Anti piracy fencing • Bullet Proof protection for windows and doors • Spray systems Offshore Support Albwardy Marine Engineering mobilized a trained and certified team of Scaffolders, Blasters, riggers and Painters with required equipment from Dubai to Qatar offshore area to carryout Hydro Blasting and painting on board the FSO Africa including the whole Heli-Deck structure, this is carried out in coordination with the international know company OSG ship management. Diving: Anchors Recovery: Since the beginning of 2011 Albwardy Diving Services (ADS) has been very active in anchor recovery salvage operations. Since the end of last February, ADS has successfully located, recovered and returned to the owners, four separate anchors and chains that were lost in the anchorages of Fujairah and Salalah, Oman. The anchors recovered varied in weight from 6 tonnes to 12.6 tonnes and the weight of chain recovered varied from 20 tonnes to 85.4 tonnes. The deepest water depth that ADS have recovered an anchor from this year is 140 m. Assistance in Submerged Cable Laying Project: After last year’s successful cable landing project in Fujairah, which was carried out for and in conjunction with one of the major cable laying companies, AME has again been awarded a project to assist in landing another submarine cable, this time in the Jebel Ali area. This has involved fabricating a cable tank, assisting in the ship to shore transfer of cable to the tank, assembly and modification of the specialist burial equipment, which will be used to bury the submarine cable, provision of anchor handling tug boat and diving boats, provision of divers, mobilisation of the cable lay barge, providing cranes, manpower, and agency activities to ensure the project is as successful as the Fujairah landing. Industrial: AME Fujairah has a constant flow of work coming from the local refineries such as VOPAC & FRCL and within the desalination plant managed by SEMBCORP. Training As part of the continuous training of AME workforce, additional 12 welders been certified by Bureau Veritas for different welding procedures of Aluminium material, 10 more Technicians from AME successfully completed the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training conducted by Falck Safety services company. Long Term Maintenance contracts AME has a long term agreements for afloat repairs with 4 major ship-owners who’s combined fleets number over 180 vessels. |
